More than just a religious or inspirational book, this is the story of a family living through the challenging decade which included World War II. The family faced many difficulties, including a daughter with serious mental retardation and epilepsy, a son on a Navy destroyer in the South Pacific, a father who strayed from his family for a time, and a mother who suffered with a variety of physical ailments. While all these were being faced by the family, the second youngest child, the author, was coming to grips with the two great forces that would dominate his life as an adult - a deep faith in Jesus Christ and a passion for writing.
