I do not write for the critics
Nor for the white-bearded scholars,
I have time for these cretins:
I write for the ordinary mass
For, after all, I am from this working class.
A collection of hard-core poetry, traversing the full spectrum of human activities, with anecdotes and illustrations. Every poem is prefaced, birthdated and appropriately illustrated. The poems heavily draw on real-life incidents and boldly question the foolish natures of the ‘world turners’.
Excerpt
ANGEL’S DELIGHT
When snow piles over sweet parks
And the frost silvers the tree barks,
And icicles hang by the leaves,
And the birds sit shivering on windowsills,
A boy sat while the night sailed on,
Under winter bare seized by sorrow all alone
Like a flower left to whither in some side-lawn;
Even thus his angel began to woo his moans,
Quote she, “Today was Christ born,
In joy be his coming, not in mourn.”
Even thus his lips moved as past smiles rose in him,
And sorrows frighteningly fled as the Angel’s words descended in him.
THE SAD END OF THE PARAKIES
Once upon a time in the land of Uragayus
There lived a rare race of Parakies;
Little brown man-like monkies
Who did nothing much but sat on their kurshes,
Ate nuts and watched the idyllic surroundings
With glees and occasional bursts of idle conversations.
Then one day from the skies
There came some saucers
As large as twenty ponds,
And from them emerged creatures
With strange walks and hides,
As tall as the blossoming pines.
Soon there was a bloody war in toil;
The creatures, they called themselves man
Wanted the land for their own civilization,
And enslaved the poor Parakies to till their soil;
There was blood here, there was blood there,
Blood, blood, black blood everywhere!
Now Uragayus is no more Uragayus,
The easy-going idyllic heavens of the Parakies;
It is being filled with smog, soot and chemical wastes,
Even the sky is glittering with all sorts of hues.
And poor Parakies, only eight hundred are left,
But it is doubtful they will survive the year,
For they have been the victim of merciless Nature,
Which sheds no pity or compassion for the wretched:
Strong rules weak, it applies here,
As it applies in space, out there!
