On lazy sunday mornings
by Florea I Mircea

Category:  Vision/Metaphysical
Type: Non-Fiction

...every morning you are born again- that same old damn show over and over again...

Have you ever wake up one morning , and decided that you`re just to damn lazy to get out of bed today? You look at the clock -it`s 07:00. It`s early in the morning, you have the day off, you dont have to go to work, you don`t have to go to school, you don`t have to go to the dentist , you don`t have any kids to take to school, you don`t really have anything that demands an imediate action.

I couldn`t afford to say that one wouldn`t have a reason to get out of bed at all sometimes. There are a thousand reason to leave that slumberish disposition. You have a thousand things to do- take a shower, brush your teeths, get dressed, eat your breakfast, and all that just to prepare yourself for the other things you have to do.

It is general belief that even in your free time, you must do something, anything ,and you must do it as efficiently as possible. Your conscience is demanding so. You must squeeze as many things you can in your time, your conscience is ordering so. Carpe diem, do everything, learn a new language, work out, go out, go on a date, meet someone, go on a party, go see a movie, go do something now and fast, because if that sun sets and you didn`t manage to get the best of your time you will feel worthless and you know it. And yet, knowing all that you refuse to plunge into life. You don`t want to leave your bed. You just had a nice dream , you feel like cuddling into your pillow and refuse to enter your daily program.

You know that eventually you must get out of bed but you postpone it again and again, just another 5 minutes, and another 10,and another 5 minutes. You are safe there. You are cosy, its warm, its sweet. You can pull the blanket over your head and hide from all the problems in the world. You are lying on a bed of roses far away from taxes, banks, mortgages, exams, far away from responsabilities away from everything that displeases you.

But you fell that green thorn in your back as the clock shows 10:00 and you know you must leave your nostalgia for your mother`s womb. You must start the day. You twist and turn and by the time you are in the bathroom looking at your dizzy self in the mirror it`s already 12:00.

As your face makes the first contact with the icy clear water your cord is cut and you are born again and ready to take a deep strong breath of life.

Every morning you are born again, every morning it`s that same damn old show over and over again. You leave your most perfect comfortable environment to submit yourself to a constant violent struggle in the attempt to play that merciless game of life. You never at one point know if you are winning or if you are losing, if the storm it`s over or if you just experiencing a few moments of serenity before the final blow of fate`s cruelty trashes you. And what do you get in the end? You just go to the point you left in the first place.

Does it worth being born at all when you think about it that way?

Ask yourself at night, before going to bed :``Did it worth getting out of bed this morning?`` and i bet that you will say: ``It certainly did !``

And if not....well there`s always tomorrow morning.

Reviews for "On lazy sunday mornings"

I fell of the proverbial chair when Lo and behold i Was asked by someone in this roster to review his work. Why would anyone ask me? Is it because of my owm writing? But in my writing I do not make any effort to conceal the fact that I consider literature the most handicapped of arts since its worth and its dubious rewards are generally based on the magnitude of the response and, ah so rarely, on the quality of its substance. So my first and quickly following my second defensive responses were: It must be a joke! - And then: A hopeless case perhaps. But nevertheless as I told Florea in my reply, I clicked him out of the E-soup and … CONTACT! I could hardly believe it! Here is a young man setting up to climb the mountain that I have been trying to summit for 6 decades and, comparing to my own first approaches, he clearly stands a better chance that I ever did. He is young and so I expected to find obvious signs of youthful bravura aimed at recognition and eventual acclaim. But, although some of the impediments are unavoidable at this stage, like a climber slowed down by too much equipment or worse- the wrong equipment, he will have to make some crucial decisions. Yet from his work so far, it is evident that his sense of purpose is genuinely above the common aspirations of a consensual desirable end. And His honesty is clearly emerging in his self assessment and so as I went on reading he vividly reminded me of those precious stolen moments considered so special because stolen from a nebulous sense of duty, or worse, from unavoidably encountered commitments and begrudged bare necessities. His feelings were so familiar. And now I smile for I anticipate his own future experiences at least up to a point. These will he face as they are the difficulties of the terrain and the climb. I say, go for it Florea! Honour me by climbing the mountain that has defeated me. Do not hesitate, do not dither. Above all do not let readers and their dogs enter into your consideration and deflect you in any way. It is only this way that you may greatly reward us, and that should be both your aim and your own reward.

I like this Floea, Motivation of self can unfold not only in morning's birth but in each new moment. Sometimes when we think ahead at what we must face each day, it scares us.
When all we really have to do is become each moments change...sometimes easier said than done. A reachable goal when we accept what stands before us.

thanks for sharing your beautiful insight.
