The Gathering of My Leaves Poetry book is the exploration of my love of God, passion for art and fondness of macaroni and cheese.
"The Gathering of My Leaves" poetry book is an exploration of self discovery. Exploring poetry and art through the symbolic notion of leaves fallen from my family tree, opened my heart to the rhythm of heriage. This work revealed the beautiful influences of ancestry and legacy. Through the poems of "Macaroni and Cheese", "At the Fence", and "Senior Choir", I have been able to connect with my heritage. I am gathering leaves to learn from the legacey of my family tree.
Excerpt
Macaroni and Cheese

I stand at the edge of the field
Taking in the smell of the summer breeze.
In the distance my mother yells from the porch
"It's lunch time. I made your favorite...
macaroni and cheese."
I take off and run fast as I can.
Running so hard
As much as my little feet can stand.
I make it to the porch
And jump to the top step.
Embracing the sweet aroma
Of love that is so heart felt.
I run to the table to
Take my seat.
My mother says,
"Stop running or you won't get your favorite treat."
I stop running and walk fast.
I make it to the table and ask for a big glass.
She says,
"What would you like to drink my impatient little son?"
I reply,
"Red kool-aid! That sounds like fun."
With a smile, I begin to feed my face.
Stuffing my little belly, as much as it can take.
As my mom walks toward the table,
I think to myself
I am so pleased.
Not because she is wonderful and beautiful.
But because she made me
macaroni and cheese.

Liked the excerpt of your book. Makes one realize the past and though I was not a fan of M.C... kool-aid on the other hand I can refer, too... Thanks for sharing your work...
