This book should be a required read before anyone enters a movie theater, especially those who thing rules don't apply to them. I'm not a big movie goer now but loved it when I was young so this book intrigued me and felt relatable. The employee perspective was very revealing of human behavior when it is thought that no one is looking. The writing style caught and kept my attention and I did not put it down until I was finished. Some chapters made me laugh and some made me groan at people's behavior revealed by this author. It was very entertaining. A quick read yes, which left me wanting to read more. Maybe some of these topics should show up in the previews before the featured show, but alas the people meant to see them won't think the message pertains to them.
It is an interesting concept, but it got to be a bit repitious. How many different ways can you tell stories about throwing popcorn?

A book (more accurately a pamphlet) whose topic is seldom considered and a format not seen often.
The author wrote sections addressing individual topics in a light-hearted easy way but left me wanting more when relating each topic.
This edition is a reminder to be considerate of people at a theater but, in its essence, to be considerate of all people. Again each story could have easily been extended or more added.
The authentic usher schedule gives readers a first-hand look at how closely the shows operate. This schedule cements the importance of moviegoers cleaning up after themselves as the staff has so little time for cleaning before the next screening.
'Dear Moviegoer' reminds all of us of the etiquette of going to the theater and the specific topics, such as: buying tickets, food in theaters, movie ratings, phone usage, and several others.
This informative book would make the perfect gift to the person in your life who enjoys going to the movies or to the young adult who is experiencing movies on the big screen for the first time.
Easy read but in my opinion incomplete.

As an avid movie goer, I was very excited and intrigued to read Margena Adams Holmes' book "Dear Moviegoer: Tales From Behind The Velvet Curtains." I found the book entertaining, but wanting more!
Each chapter of the book has the author making a statement or request to moviegoers. These chapter topics were fun and definitely made me want to keep reading, covering topics such as what items are left behind in theaters (both obvious and disgusting!) and interesting behaviors by guests. I wish some of the stories that accompanied these chapter requests were more detailed. After reading the stories I was left wanting for more details, or asking questions such as 'what happened next?'
Overall this is a very fun and amusing collection of the deeds of moviegoers and a brief peek into the lives of theater employees. Could it have given more details and more stories? Sure, but this is definitely a book to read for anyone that enjoys attending the movies.
