You’ve been under a lot of stress. A bit of panic isn’t surprising.” Emily shook her head. “That’s not all. It didn’t hit me until later. Marnie hadn’t said my name. So, how did he know? That freaked me out, I tell you.” She felt close to tears and then a wave of anger swept through her. She clutched at the arms of the chair. “I don’t let people call me Em,” she said between clenched teeth. “I hate it and my friends know that. But, Doc, when he said it….” “Yes?” “It sounded … so … I don’t know, just so special somehow.” She looked at David and wondered if he sensed how helpless and stupid she felt. “Why do you think that?” Emily shrugged. “I don’t know. His tone of voice maybe. It made me feel like he loved me.” Emily looked everywhere else but at David. “Pretty silly, huh?” “Not silly at all. LOVE LOVE LOVE
Embroiled is unlike any other book that I have read in a while. I was totally hooked because all the questions that were popping up in my head where not being answered. I had a feeling that they would not be answered until I completed the book. There are three parts to this story and while each part is a very similar story Emily has a different problem that she is facing.
In part one Emily has the strong urge to walk over ice, even though she knows she will break through and drown. Her obsession is finding out what is waiting for her underneath the ice. While that doesn't seem too interesting it does in fact become EXTREMELY interesting when a man named Yves comes into the picture (by the way, Yves is not from Earth).
Yves chewed his lower lip, "I'm the man waiting for you under the ice." And with that statement he had Emily screaming as she ran away from him. Other actions happen which do not benefit Yves and his attempt to woo Emily so he must start over. Insert part two. In part two Emily doesn't have the obsession with the ice because she no longer remembers that incident, but now Emily cannot remember the people around her. Hmm, I wonder why?
Insert part three, which is by far my favorite part! Emily must make a very hard decision about her future. But when it's the person you have loved forever, how hard can one simple decision really be. This book is more real than most romance stories because it describes the struggles that Emily and Yves face, just like any real relationship outside of books. Embroiled ends in such a way that would make any reader happy if it was the end, but I feel that there is more to come. Darlene Jones has created a wonderful romance that will be shared for many years. This easy read contains 34 chapters which makes is a good length to read, not to short and not too long. My rating is 5+ stars!!!

EMBROILED - an absorbing love story with a futuristic twist
EMBROILEDI must admit, I can't get enough of futuristic/romance novels so when I discovered EMBROILED I bought it immediately. In no time I was caught up in the trials of two star-crossed lovers from different worlds. Em and Yves have loved each other for eons, through all Em's past reincarnations. Now that Yves has taken over as Mentor he wants her by his side but Emily thinks the good looking guy she keeps on meeting is stalking her.

The heroine is a joy to get to know as a character. In a world where Humans are despised by the 'all mighty Powers', she refuses to be intimidated. When she discovers a scheme to overthrow Yves she puts her life at risk to save him. The hero also is a 3D character, and totally believable. Though he has the responsibility for the problems of the entire universe, he is a just a regular guy head over heels in love with a girl, everyone thinks isn't good enough for him.

This was the first book I have ever read by Darlene Jones, but it definitely won't be the last. I highly recommended EMBROILED- it has the right blend of sci-fi, romance and paranormal elements. It's definitely worth 5 stars!
