The opening chapters really grabbed me and made me want to read on! I thought you introduced the story very well, starting with a bang, so to speak! Then you very sensitively took us back to the experiences of Sam's childhood, which really humanised him and gave us an insight into who he was and where he had come from. I really felt an empathy for his character and that of his friend Jose, which made me care about what happened to them. I thought this was a very strong opening, and with a bit of editing and tightening up I think you have the makings of a great contemporary thriller.
Great stuff, keep up the good work! Lots of stars and a place on my shelf.
