It just happens without our express consent.” This quote in the chapter entitled ‘Take Risks’ hit the nail on the head for me and I was thankful that I had the chance to read this book.
From the first moment I saw the title of this book I was hooked! Who really wants a boring life? With the chance to kick it out of the way I was all in. Donna writes in such an easy conversational manner and I enjoyed reading the real life stories she included throughout the book. Reading how people have taken these points and put them into action in their own lives was inspiring! I definitely recommend this book to anyone that wants to change their lives and have shared it with others already!

Truly Worthwhile Read
Carter encompassed so many big ideas in this book and in that way challenged me to allow myself to be transformed to God's picture of who I am and who I might become--even as a 60 something year old. The author deals with many practical ideas on navigating life and relationships (taking risks, knowing that there are no "ordinary people", traveling light, embracing our Creator). Courageously Donna tells her own life experiences and also relates stories of others throughout the pages of the book thereby affirming that change is possible. Donna is a gifted writer. Her stories are emotive and at times also lighthearted and funny. I found myself smiling a lot. I highly recommend this book.

A book full of treasured insight
When I first picked up Donna's book I was expecting a light hearted look at life. It only took several pages in to realize I had a friend who was taking my hand and guiding me to really look at where my feet have carried me so far in life. Have I let the protectiveness of my lifestyle and security keep me from the risk of investing in a lifestyle I love? Have I let labels and past hurts affect my decisions and where I am in life? She reaches in and shows us how God calls us to something far greater, that we have a choice to live a life of freedom and boldness. She shows us that God wants us to see with His vision, the bigger picture and create a new list of priorities...one beyond our labels, one unshackled by the hurts of our past and one beyond our small circle of self. "He wants you to look at your past without pain, your present without pressure, and your future without fear. In this way you can pursue an adventurous life filled with the Lord Jesus's presence and promises."

Donna has a way of guiding you through the depths of the Bible to help you get practical insight for the here and now, the stories she shares from others' lives resonate with you long after you close the book and her willingness to be open and part the curtain into her life leaves you feeling like you're not alone.

This is a book now filled with my highlights that I will keep close on my shelf. I highly recommend this as a must read!
