"Thanks for the prayers. Taylor is with Jesus now." My heart was broken. I had known Taylor since she was 10 or 11, when she started attending my Sunday school class with her cousins. I didn't know that she identified as having a same-sex attraction until I saw her posts from college - smiling, laughing, dancing. She appeared happy and comfortable. I was happy for her. But then came her death. And I wondered...if I had been honest about my own struggle or if I had let her know how much God loved her, would the outcome have been different? As the tears slide down my cheeks, these thoughts came to me: Why didn't I help her? Why couldn't I stand in my own truth? Holding on to the a belief that my voice didn't matter, I found it safer to sit on the sidelines and pretend not to be offended by those who teased or bullied others who were gay like me. But now the victim was a friend. I was time to step up and let my voice be heard. It was time to share my story: Who I was, what I had been through, and how I could help others.

The reflection of each author is so intricate and delicate along with being sincere. Lots of emotional feelings that a person can relate too.
A wild and wonderful ride
Having read the previous two One Degree Shift books, I was anxiously awaiting the arrival the third, Call to Soar. And now it is here, and it certainly has not disappointed. In fact, I think these wonderful little gems get better and better. The first story I read, An Ode to Restraint, talked to me. It took me back to a time when I too was changing and growing spiritually, and unsure of my purpose and place. It was so good to read that I was not the only one wandering and wondering. As Cassandra recounted her mind-blowing experiences (no spoilers), I felt like I was in the room, going through it all with her, feeling every single emotion. I also learned about methods of spiritual growth that I never knew existed. What an amazing journey for the author, and what a wild and wonderful ride for the readers of Call to Soar. Bravo!
Transparency from others
This is a must read, so many women suffer in silence. Nothing ever gets healed if you cover it up. As I read Cynthia's story it made me revisit my own and the choices that I ultimately made in life as a result. Everyone has a story and not all of us think we can come out on the other side stronger, but you can and she is living proof. I have a renewed strength that came from reading this book. But you need to take the journey for your self, it is worth it.
