At five minutes past midnight, Karen Sullivan glanced at her state-of-the-art security system.
All doors and windows were locked.

Her heart fluttered, but the mental picture of a creepy-crawler squashed by a boulder eased the tightness in her chest. She slipped the chain on the solid brass, chrome-plated Ace Blaster whistle over her head and made a face.
So she couldn’t involve the police. She’d show the bastard. He’d find out soon enough he’d messed with the wrong woman.
The portable rang softly. Karen flinched. A small flinch. A tic. Disgusted by her body’s betrayal, she dropped the earphones into place, and then mashed the TALK button.
Without wasting another second, she blew into the whistle.

When RJ is raped and beaten, Karen meets Hunter, a lieutenant from the KCPD. Together, with Karen's expertise in computers and hacking, and Hunter's nose for crime, they begin to sort out the situation Karen finds herself in.
The plot begins to unravel the mystery and pieces of the puzzle quickly start to fall into place. The story line takes us all the way back to Karen's childhood rape and the death of Karen's mother.
'Ready Or Not' is a deep book that really takes a look at psychopaths and the messed up way they think.
Once again, AB Plum gives us an excellent novel. Very intense, deeply disturbing, but quiet thought provoking! I cannot recommend this book highly enough. 'Ready Or Not' is most definitely a page turner that you just 'can't put down' until the end. Get ready for an explosive, unexpected ending!!!
