Parker took a cab to the airport and caught his flight to Great Falls, Montana. He had completed his Christmas shopping. In typical Parker fashion, he boxed up and sent sixteen iPads to his parent’s house in Havre. He liked getting things done.
With one semester left before graduation from Kansas State, Parker needed a break. He was counting on rest and relaxation at the ranch to revive his zeal to finish school. His ass wound still reminded him of the horrible bathroom scene at the frat house almost three months ago, which resulted in his break-up with Natalie. After learning about Dante’s habits, he reasoned the break-up was for the best. The text Cara had sent him with the photo of Natalie and Dante, still stung, but not as much as his pride, thanks to ‘stabber girl.’
His investigative ability was sorely lacking as his kissable assailant was still on the loose. After Parker asked everyone individually at the party about the mystery woman—she remained an enigma. How did someone stay so far off the radar? Still unhinged by the ghost-like woman who tore a hole in his buttock, Parker hoped the month-long Christmas visit with his family would help him clear his head and solidify a plan to get back on track.He looked forward to at least one day of hunting with his dad and brother, preferably not on horseback. It had been a long time since he had ridden his horse, Shredder, but Parker’s rear still ached. He worried the tall black gelding wouldn’t recognize him one day; just imagining it, hurt.
His dad would want to bring him up to date on the oil wells and his mother would insist Parker collect eggs for her during his stay. He smiled at the familiar routine at the ranch and the accompanying warm feelings of love.
Parker noticed they were flying above Montana. A perky flight attendant stopped by to collect any trash and alert the passengers to prepare for the approaching descent.
“Mr. Stantrop, thank you for choosing to travel SkyMark. It's been a pleasure.” Setting a napkin in front of Parker, she added, “Here’s my number, call me.”
Momentarily trapped in his seat, he felt the assessing eyes of the flight attendant checking out his body. Parker smiled at the business fame his father's success had caused.
“Thank you for your attention to detail,” he replied. He reddened slightly under her scrutiny. His eyes traveled quickly from her shapely legs up to the unbuttoned white blouse under her blue SkyMark uniform vest where the name tag said, Allie.
“Have a Merry Christmas, Allie,” Parker told the forward flight attendant. He knew she wanted him to look—and he did—though he felt every bit the idiot for it. How Chase put up with that kind of attention twenty-four-seven working for the company, Parker couldn’t fathom.
It was supposed to be a big year for snow, and the sight amazed Parker. A crystal white blanket hid everything, except the brave souls trying to drive and walk in it. Wearing his leather backpack, Parker stood near the main entrance of his flight gate checking his texts.
“Excuse me,” said a deep voice behind him, “I'm looking for a K-State loser. Have you seen him?”
Parker grinned and hugged his older brother. “Yeah, I'm looking at him!” he shot back. “Missed you, man.”
Side by side they marched out to the wide pick-up drop-off zone. “When are you going to learn, you don't have to leave your truck running in Montana?” Parker teased.
Chase laughed, “I guess you can take the boy out of Alaska, but you can't take ...”
Parker finished, “… Alaska out of the idiot. I thought you were getting burned out up there, but it sounds like you are still enjoying it?”
Climbing into the black Hummer, Parker tossed his bag over his shoulder onto the back seat.
“Yeah, I am enjoying it. Got some interesting people up there,” Chase shared.
“A girl?” Parker inquired.
“Yes.”
Parker sneaked a look at his smiling brother and knew something was up. “So, tell me about her.”
“Not much to tell yet. She's beautiful and interesting. If you're lucky, you'll get to meet her. How about you, Park? The last girl you told me about was Natalie. How's it going?”
“Well, it's not. Long story.”

Done Running is a fast paced page turner of a book. There is a large cast of unique and interesting characters whose individual stories are woven into a fascinating narrative. There are twists and turns, surprises, as well as themes of redemption, love , revenge and family. The author brings all the components of the story together beautifully and creates a book well worth reading. Highly recommended.

The first book I have read by this author. I am looking forward to finding others by her and anticipating it/them to be as well-written.
How an act of bullying leads a group of people down an emotional roller coaster is beautifully written to have the reader hooked to the end.
While an unconventional story-line, it has all the emotional upheaval of life elegantly written in such a way as to feel real.
The promo and excerpt do not begin to outline the highs and lows the story has or highlight the way the characters jump off the page with the excellent writing style of the author.
A book well worth your time.
