Eric Landers travels to Tahiti as a bank trouble shooter for his friend, Harvey Cannon, the head of credit for the Pacific Division of Northern Trust Bank. Landers' assignment - to straighten out credit and loan irregularities that have left the bank and his friend in a dangerous position. He thinks it will be a restful vacation in paradise with people he loves. However the stakes go up when a Mafia hit man appears on the plane and two FBI agents meet him at the airport with tales of money laundering. When large amounts of money begin to appear in and then disappear from a certain questionable bank account, his challenge is to unravel the game, a deadly gamble where the stakes become his life and the life of the woman he loves, and he is forced to use skills he thought he would never have to use again.

A CASUALLY DRESSED MAN stood quietly in front of the receptionist in the first class lounge at Qantas Airways, Los Angeles International Airport waiting patiently while the blonde behind the desk finished her phone call. He was at least six feet tall with a straight posture. But there was something alluring about the man who stood under the long, dark, wavy hair, slightly balding on top. His age was middle to late forties but he could have been younger or older. Although he appeared relaxed, his eyes roamed the lounge area watching everyone, trying to locate his travelling companion.

This book was very engaging, hard to put from my own personal experience working in that world of deception. Where is the next twist? I kept asking. The author used an easy flow of different languages and cultures, making the characters believable.

The author presents the atypical circumstances in a fashion that allows the readers to feel as if they are on the inside of the scenario-a fly on the wall, so to speak. I walked most of my life with this man, and I am learning more about my father by reading his books. Thanks Dad.

This story had to be told
Gripping and hard to put down as the story was too close to the truth in the international financial centers. And this story had to be told from experience-and from his life.
'Hidden Money' is a tale of corruption, crime and murder wrapped up in the banking institutions.
Eric Landers takes on one last case which takes him back to Tahiti where he has many friends and family. Very early on he learns of the involvement of the FBI and the Mafia, complete with a mob hit man that is after him.
The first couple of chapters are a little "conjested" with the introductions of several characters complete complete with names and character descriptions to sort through. I found myself having to go back to reread to keep all the different characters in order, however, once the characters are sorted, the story begins to fall into place and becomes a very good read!
There seems to be a new twist or turn in each chapter, keeping the reader on the edge of their seats. 'Hidden Money' builds mystery upon mystery while the search for the mole and the disappearing money continues. As the story goes on, the descriptive words regarding characters and locations is quite interesting. I love it when an author provides the reader with a vivid image of locales and John W. McCoy does just that.
All in all, I would definitely give this book a "thumbs up." I highly recommend you check it out! Once the story line begins to fall into place, you can't put it down. I will most definitely be looking forward to reading additional works by John W. McCoy.

I have just read a sample chapter; not the whole book.
It's very good. There is a hook there, in that I want to go on reading all the time, and want more when I get to the the end of the chapter.
The only part of the chapter which I think is completely superfluous is the description of Landers at the beginning, when he is checking in at the airport.
Some of the criminal plan of the Family is not explained fully, when we are told two banks were purchased by Northern Trust "to rip off a willing buyer." But I suppose the lack of explanation to the reader all helps to create a fog of mystery, adding to the drama, perhaps. The reader does not need to know exactly what the bad guys are doing. I suppose. The reader only needs to know they are bad guys.
Based on this sample chapter, a book well worth reading.
John W. McCoy is a very good authors and writes about real life and people but fictionalizing to protect the not-so-innocent characters in the novels.
He now has written and published five novels of fictions and published. The other three novels will be added to authorsden.com soon. October 2014

I read Hidden Money and really enjoyed it. You have an excellent wordsmith and just as good as Tom Clancy. Best of luck on really selling lots and lots of your books.

Your books - Hidden Money and Leaving It Behind - are written in an easy going style with a certain American accent. The plots are developed early and kept me in suspense eager to find out what is happening inthe next chapters. Each chapter led quickly into a new guessing game with the suspense. Keep writing Dirk

I could not put this book down and read it in basically one day. It is an exceptional book and would be ideal for a movie. I will now purchase John W. McCoy's second book - Leaving it Behind. Exceptional rating. Kevin Collins
