This book chronicles the author's nearly thirty year relationship with the U. S. Army. It shares, in detail, about two tours with combat units in Vietnam and a chapter that recalls an experience that the author states was "the most horrendous" of his life This experience took place in Germany during late 1983. This chapter could be a book by itself and worth the price of the entire book. Individuals that have read this book report that it is spellbinding and  state that they could hardly put it down once they began reading.
