Javelina, subtitled Have-uh-what? (2nd Edition) is a non-fiction children's book about pig-like animals that roam the Sonoran Desert, which starts in Mexico and goes up into central Arizona. I photographed them from the windows of our home.

Spiky-looking animals which look a lot like pigs — wild ones — are called Javelinas. Their scientific name is collared peccary. Almost salt-and-pepper colored, with light-colored collars, they look as though someone started to wash them, but the clever beasts got away before the job was done.

Excerpt

Pig-faced, with pink snouts,
their eyes don't see too well —
but their ears hear splendidly.

Fun is a good thing. This non-fiction book provides that, along with facts and full-color photos of wild pig-like animals that roam our Southwestern deserts.

Gene K. Garrison found that few people outside of Southwesterners have heard of the animal. They don't know how to spell it, pronounce it, and don't know what it looks like. That's the reason for the long title. For some, it's a discovery, for others a curiosity.

The author photographed them when she and her husband lived in Cave Creek, Arizona. They welcomed all sorts of wildlife to their desert property, even the fierce-looking javelinas.

I'm not griping about the reviews of the second edition of "Javelina
(Have-uh-WHAT??" but the wrong photo is being used. It shows the first edition. The second edition is different. How can I change that?
