All hell broke lose. The elders went berserk. They shook their fists in my face one by one. I stood there not saying anything.
“You dare insult our gods?” The most senior elder asked.
“How can I do that? Even if I did, the gods are capable of fighting for themselves. Unless you elders want to tell me it is you that fight for your gods.”
“You this small boy, you dare insulted us to our face?” The Chief Priest of Ovia asked.
“I cannot do that my elders,” I replied putting false humility in my voice.
“Tell us Anetor, are you going to provide the goats or not?” Uncle Uromi asked. A satisfied smile rose to the corners of his mouth.
“I told you already that as the founder of my church, I cannot sacrifice to any other god.”
