Papa John as I affectionately called him was an Arkansas farmer and was honored by the naming of his main road to the farm Gammon Rd in rural  Gammonville which is located in Crittenden County Arkansas outside of Marion, Arkansas.

John Gammon Jr. was the first American of African descent to be inducted into the Arkansas Agricultural Hall of Fame for his many  agricultural contributions and experiments. He was instrumental in the formation of  the Capon industry in Arkansas.  He was and educator, and graduate of Arkansas AM & N College, now  the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. (UAPB).  He was instrumental in the formation of the Negro Division of The Farm Bureau Insurance Company during a time when Black farmers could not obtain agricultural insurance.  

The booklet is out of print it was a series of letters to the grandchildren. Have a letter of revies from Poet Nikki Giovanni dated 15 May 1987 encouraging me to write more rememberance books.
