Eighteen year old Georgina Claythorne teams up with her boyfriend, Jake Hanlon, once again to investigate a haunting in Ocean Grove, New Jersey. She discovers a connection between the haunting of her family's bed and breakfast and an Irish servant girl employed in 1914 by her ancestors.

As Georgina works to help her father in the newly renovated Claythorne Bed and Breakfast Inn in Ocean Grove, New Jersey, she discovers a connection between the haunting of an Irish servant girl and her ancestors. She not only must convince her father of the need to get rid of the ghosts before it's too late, but she must also trust Samantha, a mysterious guest who is interested in her father and has her own link to the hauntings.

Excerpt

He kissed her a few more times and then sat beside. His tall frame shielded her from the rough winds that pulled at her hooded jacket.
“My God, you’re freezing, GC. You should have worn a parka instead of that hoodie.”
“It’s summer, Jake.”
“Yeah, but it’s freezing out here.”
“You’re always worrying about me.”
“Of course, you’re my best girl.”

“I hope I’m your only girl.”
He cupped her hands and warmed them in his own. “And what have we this time? I read in your texts about the Claythorne Inn. Is it haunted?”
“It’s got activity.”
Jake’s gaze narrowed. “What did you get us into this time?”
“Remember I texted you about the noises and the vibrations, the negative energy, and the cold spots near the attic? I think the renovation stirred up old memories in that house, and they’re not good ones.”
He rubbed his chin and stared out at the water. Gulls screeched and dove into the waves on a search for fish.
“It probably disturbed whoever or whatever once lived there,” Georgina continued. “And we have a guest, a woman named Samantha who picked up on it too.”
“Really? A kindred spirit, no pun intended.”
“Well, sort of.”
He crossed his chest a moment. “We’ll have to get rid of whatever is disturbing the house. Did your father say anything?”
“Are you kidding? Dad wouldn’t know a poltergeist if it hit him over the head.”
“That’s possible, you know.”
“Honestly, Jake. I’ve tried for years to clue him on my experiences and he’s not going to believe anything I tell him about this.”
They sat and watched the undulation of the tides and the sparkle of early stars over head as the sky darkened. “I’m wondering about methods,” Jake said, breaking the momentary silence. “I’ve got several new gadgets to try out.”
“My father is worried about his business. We’ve got to be discreet.”
“So, we need to do a clean sweep without him knowing about it.”
“Yes.” She basked in the warmth of Jake’s nearness, feeling less alone and troubled despite her uncertainties about the inn. “I’m so glad you showed up.”
He nuzzled the back of her hair, and she inhaled the scent of citrus from his
aftershave cologne. Then he moved her away. “Promise me no Ouija boards or séances this time.”
She crossed her heart with one hand. “No Ouija boards. I know the last time we contacted the unwanted spirit of Mary’s father, but it did help prove what happened to Mary and her Eric.”
He lifted her chin. “And no séances.”
“You know Jake the séance worked the last time. It helped stop the haunting at Treasure Trove. You have to give Madame Alexandra credit for that.”
“You mean that loony tune?”
When she stared hard at him, he backed away. “Okay, she did help, but honestly, I’m worried about you, GC. You are living under the same roof, albeit a temporary arrangement for the summer, as the purported haunting. It could be dangerous.”

Reviews for "A Dance Out of Time"

Reviewed by Laura H. 1/7/2019
I read this book in one sitting and found it completely and utterly riveting.
The appearance of ghosts, possession, etc. make this a book one that would appeal to people who are interested this realm.
The author's writing is exceptional in keeping the reader sitting on the edge of their seat.
A person becomes invested with the characters and what will happen in their lives very quickly.
Also the emerging love story is quite unexpected but fun and gives the plot another twist.
This reader is looking forward to another publication by this author, hopefully sooner than later.
