'Reviewing books can sometimes be a chore and I really didn't know what to expect when confronted with 'Run For Freedom' by Kevin Muir. But it could have proved nothing less like a chore as it is a compulsive read. Indeed my editor will testify that my daily deadlines suffered on a couple of occasions! The strength of character description is amazing and you quickly find yourself engrossed in the plot, yet more importantly from my personal point of view, I could relate to the greyhound strand that runs through the novel. A classic love story worked wel alongside the violence at the height of the Irish troubles, with the country's love of Greyhound racing proving a convincing common denominator. From my particular viewpoint the Greyhound content is well researched and superbly written in such a manner thta whilst appealing to the 'diehard' dog man can be easily understood and appreciated by the complete novice.'

'I found the portrayed an unambigous indictment of sectarianism throughout an emotional roller-coaster ride, which left me with a hard lump in my throat. The novel is well paced and tender and amusing by turns, and held my attention every yard of the way. I was fascinated with the use of the Greyhound racing aspect, which acted as the melting pot with its superb undercurrent of hope fused with humour. Whilst not once did i ever feel the book was over sentimentalised, for at times it was generally upsetting and gave a truly authentic insight to the events surrounding the period. The conclusion was an uplifting experience and the writer clearly displays his stance, that love will survive through belligerence. My encompassed view is that this novel would make an excellent film!'

What can I say? Loved the book,from opening to conclusion. I look forward to reading more of his work as I am fast becoming his biggest fan. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Ya know when your watching a movie and the character does something stupid that you know they'll regret in the future, so you start screeming, "No don't do it!!!"? Well that's exactly how it was when I read Kevin Muir's story. I was pulled in from the 1st chapter. It was like I had grown a relationship with all the main characters... like they were my friends. "It made me screem, they made me cry, they sent my mind on a magic ride."
