Poetry Books Don’t Sell! The author doesn’t know why this is. He
cannot explain it. It simply is a truism among the publishing world:
no one buys poetry books. Only a handful of already-famous poets’ have
their books purchased by the reading public. The poetry of thousands
of other poets remains unbought, unread, languishing unloved without
due attention. It seems many readers are intimidated by poetry, afraid
they won’t like it or understand it, while most readers actually would
find reading poetry entertaining and enjoyable … if only they were
willing to give it a try. The poetry in this book is accessible to all
readers, being easy to read and understand. The poems included in this
book will entertain readers, either by being thought-provoking,
emotionally-engaging, or amusing. The author is confident that most
readers would love this poetry, if only there were some way to get
them to buy either a print copy or an e-book version.
The poetry in this book addresses a wide variety of subjects. It is written
in various formats or styles, including forty-three rhyming storoems (story-
poems), six acrostic poems, five political poems, and twenty-nine free-verse poems. Seven older poems (prize-winners and author’s favorites) are included as lagniappe. These ninety offer the reader hours upon hours of reading pleasure.

I especially like The last 7 poems labeled as A Little Bit More Lagniappe rounding out the book with two of the bards all time favorite poems from 2002 as last. The Canine’s Howling at the Moon instructs regarding the meaning of the canine call given so that Man might forever remember the misdeed causing loss of perfection; sadly too soon mankind has forgotten. The Mockingbird Sings at Night is another instructional type ode relating a hopeful note; the nighttime songster sings to offer Mankind hope during all the blackest periods of life as the singing reminds us that life’s beauty, while unseen in the darkness is still present.
This is a book of free verse poetry that addresses the seven main tests in life and offers some sensible solutions to passing those tests with minimal discomfort.
