Don't turn on the hall lights. A silent voice warned her. Aware she was probably overreacting to a situation that would be explained in a few minutes, Layne crept down the dark corridor toward the guest room and the sound of Trish and Freddy's voices. "Hello?"
There was nothing on the line other than the wind.
"Hello? Is anyone there?"
Layne hung up the telephone, trying to convince herself the storm had messed up the phone lines.
Shortly after she fell asleep, the phone rang again. Again, no one was there when she answered. Walking to the window, she glanced in the direction of the motel office. A bright light now burned inside. That was strange. The owner had told her tht she never stayed at the motel overnight. Maybe she left a light on when she left. Or was she there?

And you'll feel as if you've stayed at the lovely B&B in Virginia with Layne so well described are the settings. Lots of adventure and action for an exciting read!
