Poetry about army life, dedication, and sacrifice as a soldier.
This poetry describes my experiences while becoming soldier, and becoming deployed in Iraq. Every book I sell, I will donate to charities for wounded soldiers.

Proud Veteran
I step in the place of boots,
that marched there along before me.
Who then set standard of excellence,
while fighting for those, who weren't free.
From their ordeals, grew a sacrifice,
a constant struggle, and a constant pain.
Having to succumb to the dangers involve,
realizing there, was much more, for them, to then gain.
A height, of which, they couldn't , before climb,
and a profile, of being, amongst the few.
An experience, no one, can truly take back, and wisdom of what one, is to then do.
A sense of pride, for fighting, for a people,
for a freedom, they crucially, need to receive.
A people rule by a one sided government,
who were made, to suffer, and not fully achieve.
The baton, has now, since been passed,
and I to go, and do the, very same.
Always proud to be a celebrated part,
of those, of whom, once have became.
Oh, this is a book I would dearly love to read! I'm the daughter of, sister of, niece of, cousin of Veterans, as well as a USAF Veteran, myself (was a medic, also!). When I get some extra money, I will order: and to donate the proceeds to helping our military is admirable. Well done, and thank you for your service!
Very thoughtful. You will enjoy Universal Warrior that my husband wrote. It's posted on this site. The words "who were made, to suffer, and not fully achieve," of your poem say so much. And of course the meaning different to different ones. Post more! Happy writing. Linda
If you tend to believe romantic, passionate, masculine poetry is a thing of past eras, read "She Intrigues Me," and be swept away in the beautiful craft of a contemporary poet of love.
