The three sections of this book, derived from the subtitle, deliver a general outline of Eva's career: INNOVATOR outlines her upbringing and early design experiences and concludes with a chapter explaining her groundbreaking work in branding and patterning. The first half of DESIGNER presents a selection of Eva Maddox Associates' projects as cases studies grouped by category to help readers focus on a particular design endeavor and observe the evolution of Eva's pioneering solutions. As much as possible I have tried to indicate the links between the different types to demonstrate how showroom designs led to retail projects, and how the lessons learned from both contributed to Eva's ability to tackle hospitals, universities, museums, institutions, and corporations. The second half of DESIGNER explains Eva's decision to merge her firm with Perkins+Will, where she became a principal and market leader of the Eva Maddox Branded Environments division. After completing projects begun at Eva Maddox Associates, Eva and her Perkins+Will team tackled more ambitious financial and corporate assignments that culminated in the renovated headquarters for Eva's longterm client Haworth. EDUCATOR describes how Eva's early teaching experiences led to the cofounding of Archeworks. I conclude with an Afterword that recounts Eva's most important achievements and sums up her contributions to the professions of interior design and architecture.
