Till Death Do Us Part
It was the moment I reached out to him I realised he wasn’t there,
Here I was left all alone with no-one to help me thro’ my nightmare.
Simply to be by his side I could have walked a million miles,
Only for him I would’ve crossed mountains, streams and stiles.
Our love was always truly meant to be forever and a day,
But nobody told him so he simply left me and went away.
The moment we went to war turned my days into dark nights,
With no one left to love me; just one-sided verbal fights.
It broke my heart when he declared he never truly loved me
It was convenience, a habit; simply not what he wanted us to be
So I gave in and lay down my gloves as I turned off my heart
Not allowing myself to love him again because we were apart
After a while the grass was not as green on the other side
And his feelings for me he said he could truly no longer hide
He wanted me back to start again right from the beginning
But then I had made my life and my phone never stopped ringing.
So that was the key for him to make threats and violent talk
Constant harassment, phone calls and stalking where I’d walk
It frightened me to be out of the house but I simply couldn’t stay in
I was scared, guilty and worthless although I’d never committed a sin.
I left the house to go to work with my head bent ever so low
Trying hard with all my might not to let my paranoia show
I smiled and prayed my working day would never come to an end
And walked home alone really wishing I’d left work with a friend.
The police came and did all they could to stop the daily torture
But no piece of paper could’ve stopped him turning into a butcher
He stabbed me once, he stabbed me twice and then once again
So now I tell my story as I look down on you from Heaven.
