This amazing organism is a body of individual members growing together into one organic union constantly being knit together, each with its own place and function. After a prolonged series of metamorphosis, the individual members culminate into the likeness of the one from whom life was received.
An infant will not progress to the next level in life without assimilating the body’s needs. Conditions of vitality are non-existent outside the environment necessary to sustain life and promote growth. If left alone the infant will not survive, but if the infant is provided with the essentials of life, he or she will respond. Growth, spontaneously and appropriately progressing over time, will be the result. The principles of assimilation for spontaneous growth that apply to the natural apply to the spiritual as well. When you were child you could not make yourself grow. Growth just happened. You grew every day without trying; most days without even thinking about it. The very act of living contains within it the principles of progress. One cannot be without becoming.
The Christian, in a state of infancy, cannot be a mature Christian unless the principles of becoming a mature Christian are first satisfied. To be, one must pass through the process of becoming. As Christians we are on a path where the possibilities of development are limitless. Many times the only limits to our development are ones we place on ourselves.

Life is a one-way street. We cannot turn back the clock. What is done cannot be undone. From the first moment of life we travel in one direction only until the time comes to leave this life. It is not how you were born, or how you shall die, but what you do with your life between the two that will make the difference.
