My children just did not get with the agenda though. Their mother
who had previously been “party-over-here-woman” was now the
“Jesus-is-here-woman.” My short-shorts became long dresses and
heels. No more parties, romancing, playing cards until dawn, smoking
drinking, all of that was now history.
Along with these things, came a succession of jobs that kept me
working from early morning to late evening. I would leave at 6:00 in
the morning and not return home until six that evening. Life became
so hectic in the household especially since there was no longer any
man in the house, only me and three teen-aged children.
My daughter was at the rebellion stage and our relationship
became one of constant conflict. She could not understand why I had
changed so much. She liked boys and we argued constantly over what
clothes were appropriate for her to wear.
Just like me when I was
young girl, she felt that her mother was being too strict on her. She
began to run away from home.
Frightened and dismayed over what might happen to her, I prayed
constantly for God to watch over her.
Somehow in my heart, I knew
He sent His angels to watch over her. I wanted so much for my children to experience Jesus Christ just as I had. But it was not always
easy.
