I was a forty-year-old divorced woman from Maine, running my own business when my Arabian and I were hired to work at a dude ranch in Cody, Wyoming as a ranch wrangler and trail guide. This is a story of my adventures.

My first experience wrangling horses found me galloping over a headwall, down a steep bluff, amidst a herd of 100 horses. After learning to guide with my own horse, meeting a bear, and surviving a 9500-foot climb up Table Mountain, my horse and I nearly slipped 50 feet down a bank into the Shoshone River. All a part of becming a cowgirl.

Excerpt

"...young girls dream of horses. Some take lessons and learn to ride; the rest of us live and breathe all aspects of horses—drawing, painting, scrap booking, playing horse games, and forever scheming to own one. Any horse will do, just so we can brush, braid, hug, and ride.
Many years (and many horses) later, the real thing did come along. I had the chance to become a real cowgirl...this is my story."

Reviews for "So You Wanna Be A Cowgirl"

I took Pam Gonn's challenge about "males getting past the work 'Cowgirl" in Ms Gott's So You Wanna be a Cowgirl and I want you know that REAL men DO read cowgirl books along with all other westerns.

And, I liked it very much.

I used to be a wrangler and trail guide in Montana (in my much younger days) and I must say you captured the flavor of the behind-the-scenes action, adventures and fun. Great job, Ms Gott.

Keep up the good writing.

I too read this book and loved it. I envy the author and her exciting adventures as a lADy wrangler working with all those good-looking cowboyS!!!!! Sounds like a perfectly great life to me.

The author, Patricia Gott, has the ability to make the reader believe they are with her at the ranch in all her fun and adventures.

I have also read the sequel, "Cowgirl Days", and will post my review on that book.

Keep writing, Patricia.

I'm a forty(ish) lady and I admire the author for showing that you're never too old to follow your dream.

I enjoyed the book immensly,as would females from nine to ninety. Way to go girl!!!

If males get past the title with the word "Cowgirl" in it, they will also enjoy the content.

Understand there is a sequel "Cowgirl Days"--can't wait to read it.

Sounds like a great premise, Patricia. My wife is a cowgirl too. She has't quite kicked me out for a horse yet, but she's come awful close.
So, in a way I know you a little bit.
