I was three years old when I was first taught in my Muslim school - Muhammad's University of Islam in Washington, DC - that America is one of the most wicked, vile nations on earth, one that would someday be destroyed. I was nine when my Muslim school closed down and I entered a public school but was told at home to reject the Pledge of Allegiance. I would not stand, place my hand over my heart, and pledge my allegiance to the United States of America. I sat out the Pledge of Allegiance every morning and tried to explain to my classmates why they should reject it, too.
Rosetta was born in 1909 as the youngest of ten children. The family had more laughter than money and neighbors would knock on their door to ask, "Can we come in and laugh, too?"
