US Grant finds a corpse in his hotel room when he returns to Georgetown OH for a visit to his hometown.
When Ulysses Grant and his wife Julia return to the town where he grew up, he was expecting a parade or maybe a banquet. What he finds is the body of a mystery man stretched out on his bed. Assisted by Ambrose Hart, a local newspaper man, Grant decides to find out the identity of the victim as well as who killed the man.
