"Consultant in a Box" is a series of procedures and software has been developed as an interactive process for small business owners that cannot afford a consultant. These procedures teach you specific steps to resolving problems in your business. This third book, 'Management Techniques', gives you all the necessary information, and forms, to improve the productivity of your personnel in your business.
The idea for this series of business "How To" Procedures is for the business owner, that can't afford a consultant, to have the knowledge necessary to improve your business, without spending a lot of money on a consultant. This is the same information I have given my clients all over the country, but you don't have to pay thousands of dollars to get them. You can digest the information as slowly, or quickly as you want to, and give the software and procedures to your employees to implement. All of the procedures and spreadsheets are designed as a format for improving personnel productivity in your business.

The purpose of this procedure is to establish and describe the Coaching Interview with employees. The Coaching Interview has a five-fold purpose, as follows:
a. It is used to effectively modify employee behavior patterns and/or job skills for the benefit of both the employee and the management/supervision staff of the Company.
b. It is used to review employee's performance and behavior patterns, letting the employee know where they have made progress and shown improvement.
c. It helps management, at all levels, to assist their subordinates in recognizing their own strengths and weaknesses.
d. It is used to show employees what they must do to improve themselves and to help them in setting realistic goals for specific achievements.
e. It is used to help employees recognize a problem which may exist and correct it.
When used as part of an Employee Review and Evaluation System, the coaching interview helps build employee respect, morale, motivation and loyalty by helping the employee become a better performer, qualifying for wage increases and/or promotions and increased job productivity. By their nature, reprimands, warnings and suspensions are harsh. They can tear down an employee's self-confidence and morale. In these cases, the coaching interview softens the blow and helps cure the problems the employee has or is encountering.
Professional Reviews
Mr. David Peters - President - Door and Window Millworks - Florida
The staff made me realize how unorganized my company really was and how badly it needed an outside view. The staff was professional, thorough and extremely patient. Their expertise and overall knowledge was most impressive. My future expectations are to have increased profits, loyal employees and a business to be proud of. Using the tools from this project, We would say THE SKY IS THE LIMIT !
Ms. Dolores White - President - Specialty Printer - Georgia
Since we are a family business, our primary concern had been one of strategic planning. We discovered we did not have the tools in place to properly transfer authority of operations. The staff gave us the tools to prepare budgets, promotion analysis forms, determine the proper price for our products, compile a complete marketing plan and segment each product according to it's profit potential. We both feel that by using these tools that we will have a better handle on our business.
