Blue skies, Jack decided, were favored because most people lacked the sophistication to appreciate the subtleties of gray.
There was something humbling about the dark clouds drifting pas his window (corner office, fifty-seventh floor), the way the zenith was heavy like a storm cloud bleeding down to almost white where the sky kissed the building tops. When the sun was out, it reflected off of windows and made it nearly impossible to see into buildings across the way. Some of his coworkers appreciated this, as they had sun shining into their offices all day long. But Jack was more productive when the weather turned sour, and dark skies allowed him to see into the building across the street.
