By 7:00AM, the head-twins had already hit my cell phone. Kathy and Lucian performed their best work during the early morning hours. Kathy dreamed up the future, before her breakfast shift at the diner. She left me detailed clues, such as a person’s expression or the color of a woman’s dress that I might encounter during the day. Lucian was another story. His message only said, “The sheep are framing.” I wasn’t sure what it meant, but in November when “the chickens were dancing,” the cars on the interstate teed off in the fog like a derailed freight train. Impending doom was Lucian’s specialty, while Kathy only hinted at the future, neither good nor bad, like those fortune cookie horoscopes you find in the newspaper next to the comic strip. I really enjoyed Christopher Klim's short stories, True Surrealism. The stories flow nicely, and draws the reader into the different realms, making you feel 'hey, this could really happen'. It is full of warmth and wit, and Dave Barry fans will truly rejoice in this collection. Once you pick up a copy, it is really difficult to put back down until you finish it. The perspective is fresh and a joy to read.
