The Beginning
It’s January 2003, it a beginning of a New Year and what Tony is hoping for a beginning of a new life for him and his wife Marie.
With the holidays behind them, Tony and Marie are planning a family get-together of her side of the family for Easter. Suddenly the phone rang and as Tony answered, it was their daughter Mary calling and she wanted to speak with her mom. As Marie took the phone, she went off into another room to talk privately.
After a lengthy conversation over the phone with Mary, Marie then joined Tony in the living. She appeared to be quite shaken and upset. When Tony asked what was wrong, Marie said that Mary was on her way over and she will explain everything when she arrives.
Mary arrived after what seemed like hours, when in fact it only took about thirty minutes to drive from Esau to where Tony and Marie lives in Loredo. The news that Mary was about to tell was to change everyone’s outlook and plans for the New Year. For Mary had just returned from the Esau police department, after they had called Mary at work asking her to come down to the police station for they wanted to have a talk with her.
Mary then said that the police officer took her into another room, and began to ask her questions concerning her father Tony. They told her that they have received a report that Tony may have been involved in a matter of child abuse to her daughter Candance, and that they were investigating the report. They also told her that the persons that made the report had said that Candance was alone with Tony at the time the abuse was committed. They said that similar abuse has also taken place when she herself was much younger, and that they wanted to see if there was anything that she may have remembered. Mary told them that she doesn’t remember any abuse that had happened to her and that she was not aware of any abuse being done to her daughter. After an hour of talking with the police, they told her thank you and that she was free to go.
