Thicker Than Water offers the horrifying works of four new authors with nine short but terrifying stories between them. Stories of vampires and werewolves and evil lurk throughout this book. Some of the authors who have more than one tale in here have chosen to write continuations of their first stories. This will satisfy your thirst for scary entertainment, not to mention a sudden awareness of the dark and the things that might be lurking out there.
This was a truly hard book to put down. Some of the graphic violence made me stop reading briefly. Too much at one time had me looking over my shoulder and wondering why the house was so quiet. Best not read alone at night. Never mind the vampires and werewolves, by the way. Be on the look out for spiders and things that lurk in the shadows as well!

Thicker Than Water is a surprisingly good collection of vampire short fiction by four authors. Nine unusual stories of vampire fiction will enthrall you long after the book is read. The stories range from cheesy B-movie type horror to frightening tales with spiders, werewolves, ghosts, and of course vampires.
Voices in the Dark was the most touching story, but my favorite one was Jade, the story of a vampire stripper. Short stories haven’t really been a favorite of mine but these authors skillfully draw you into a voyeuristic view of their world and the tantalizing glimpses will fire your imagination. It was a pleasant surprise to find other short stories in the book involving the same characters. Although brief, these stories are deep with friendship, love, and desire proving that blood really is thicker than water.

I love a good vampire story, one that scares me, that makes me afraid to turn off the lights. Thicker Than Water delivers all that, and more, starting with Blood Feud by Cullen Bunn. (By the way, although they all have a lot going for them, this story was my favorite.) Bunn takes the age-old feuding of hill folk to a whole new level.
The Minimart, The Ruger and the Girl, by Mark Worthen, gives us a new take on long-lasting relationships and compatibility. This was my second favorite. I really like Lysette and Nick. There is one more Nick and Lysette story in this group, The Carrion Bird, the Angel of Death, and Me, and I enjoyed that one also. I hope to see more of this twosome.
From walks on moonlit beaches to opulent harems, Thicker Than Water takes you beyond traditional vampire scenarios. Pick it up and give it a read. You won’t be disappointed.
