Canaan Valley
Amidst the winding paths,
and the tall trees
the morning pleasantly greets me
the sun warms me
the mountains and trees
whisper to me.
A calmness penetrates
and surrounds me
the doubts and sorrows
I carried here
stripped from me
on the mountaintop.
As I roll rapidly
down the mountainside
unaware of the end
safe in the infinite arms of God
I release my fear, have fun and
rejoice as rapture rushes in.
The earth hugs me and I rest here
knowing I shall return
to Canaan Valley.
