Then it happened. On this particular night, the room somehow became illuminated with a strange dull glow, not bright and not dark, just enough to see, sort of like a silvery kind of pinkish eerie light filling the room. I found myself walking towards the back door of the house. Stepping into the small back yard, I looked skyward.
It was one of those beautiful crystal clear nights. Every star just seemed to be hanging there, with no clouds in sight. The sky was beautiful and stars were shimmering, then wham! A shaft of light shone onto the ground in front of me, piercing its way from up high above - the diameter on the ground was about three feet and the brightness on the concrete in front of me shone with brilliance. I could not see the source, as the luminosity from the light prevented me from seeing at this point. As I moved away from it, it moved towards me anyway, as if it was following me.
I felt I had to move into the shaft of light. Was I nuts, or what? But I had no choice! This had me transfixed, but it somehow seemed normal. I felt compelled, but it seemed OK. So, with no fear, I stepped into this shaft of light. Without sound, I was lifted high above the house and I could quite clearly see everything around me and below. I felt exhilarated at the view. It was like a vertical trip, an uplifting feeling, looking down. Port Philip Bay came into view and the house was getting smaller by the second.
