"Reading 'Words In Imagination', you soon realise that children, nature and daydreams are all subjects very close to Jan Hedgers heart. Contained in this book are some wonderfully descriptive, wistful, sentimental and fun poems that connect with 'the dreamer' in you.
Take the following 'An Autumn Day' for example...
'An Autumn Day'
The sun winks cheekily through the trees
A teasing wind tickles the branches
And the leaves shake with laughter
Till they fall to the woodland stage
Where they dance with excitement
At their freedom, on this autumn day
Not only can you imagine Jan Hedgers poems like looking at a picture, you can feel them also and, in today's rather emotionally disconnected world, that alone demonstrates that there is an exceptional talent at work here. Kids will also love some of these works. Poetic tales such as the story of Ragetty-Anne Mary ('Who Lives?'), 'Thomas And The Rabbits' and 'Jonathon Dandy' will see them wide-eyed with wonder and make them laugh.
Lovers of nature and animals will also delight in Jan's obvious affinity with both and 'Nature in Rhyme' and 'By the Brook'(the story of a female fox) is both wonderfully emotive and touching. 'When I Grow Up' will delight Cat lovers everywhere and 'Just a Pebble' will resonate with anyone that has ever felt like asking the question 'why?'
If I have one criticism, it is that occasionally Jan's creative muse seems to lead her to write rather 'exclusive pieces' as with the aptly titled 'Drifting off into My World' and the rather puzzling 'Have You Seen Jack Frost'. Feeling a little left out is just not how the rest of this collection makes you feel and so it notices rather when you don't quite 'get it'. Even that though in a way I suppose is a back-handed compliment to the author.
All in all, this is a delightful work and I look forward to further works from Jan."
In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
Perhaps "..Quiet Storm" will help rekindle old flames buried and long forgotten or express the love so deeply locked inside of your soul longing to be released.
