Who’s There? is an absurd comedy about a family defining its spiritual beliefs on a chicken farm in the rural south. Each day, they have a bizarre memorial service for Bunk’s amputated leg, which they otherwise keep in the freezer. Each looks for love and each waits. Someone knocks, but Momma’s beliefs are not strong enough for her to answer. So she looks for signs to help her understand who’s there.

Seemed harmless at first for Momma to keep Bunk's amputated leg in the freezer. The leg was no longer of any use to Bunk, and it helped Momma with the fact that Bunk, as she knew him, was gone. Ivylee and I had called our daddy "Bunk" since childhood, and to us, doing so was as natural as saying "y'all." When our Bunk lost his leg, he also lost his ability to reason and started acting so peculiar that Momma banned him from the house. He lived outside much like a family pet, and we all called him "Precious."
