What is creating your future at this very moment? What is determining the depths of your love; the strength of your beliefs; the satisfaction of your work; and the joy in your life?
Perhaps it seems that you are reacting to external events and forces, somewhat adrift in a story without a plot. Or have you taken matters into your own hands, creating a life that many people only dream but never dare?
The choice to intentionally transition is always ours to make. But because the future does not come with any guarantees, there are some choices that require more than just a little courage.
That’s why transitions require finding your true voice and discovering the best of who you are. It's about living your life courageously and discovering that it is not the fear of death that moves you, but rather the joy of being vibrantly alive. In short, it’s about creating a purposeful life. Welcome to The Secret of Transitions.
The Secret of Transitions is about taking on major turning points in life, career and business, courageously and passionately. So many people are hearing the call to make changes, but simply don't know how to transition successfully to lead fulfilling lives. Jim Manton shows you how to convert the fear of change into the love of being the driver and agent of change.
Wherever you are in your career, or in life, this book will make your transition to the next level effortless and immediate. With user-friendly exercises, you will be able to apply lesson after exciting lesson to your own life so that your success is NOW rather than later.
Manton's own deeply moving personal journey of transitions is a thread that runs through this book like a novel you can't put down. He teaches principles with electrifying, dramatic stories of life and death in the combat zone of Viet Nam, intriguing martial arts learning experiences, real-world stories of personal courage and growth, and unsolvable workplace dilemmas solved through transitioning techniques all readers can use.
Jim Manton draws on his many years as a top high-tech executives as well as his current work as a career coach to give the reader a true handbook for success in this rapidly-changing world... a book that shows you how to make your transitions yourself, with vision, skill and purpose, without waiting for change to "happen to you."
Professional Reviews
This book is extraordinary
I saw an early version of this book's manuscript and wrote a blurb for the jacket of the book because I found the book to be absolutely EXTRAORDINARY......Jim Manton tells some hair-raising stories about Viet Nam, some heartbraeking stories about things I won't say or I'll spoil it for you and in the middle walks you through a dramatic series of professional transitions made by people in a company who are originally filled with fear and mistrust and dysfunction and end up working together like the team we all want to be on. Jim Manton gives you his own coaching process in action throughout this story, and brings home the realization that when we are NOT in transition, we are stuck. Dead in the water.
This book is a startling blend of touchingly personal revelations and instructive action plans any reader can follow to get the courage to transition to greater levels of fulfillment. To answer the call we know is there.
Practical advice
So many great career/business/self help/motivational books tell wonderful stories about how to "succeed". But rarely are they as practical as The Secret of Transitions by Jim Manton.
At the end of every chapter Jim challenges you to think about the lesson that he has just shared with simple yet incredibly profound questions. That is truly the beauty of this book - the simplicity of putting his sage advice to work.
The conduit to such an engaging book is Jim's storytelling. He opens himself up as if he were an old friend sharing his trials, tribulations, successes, and failures right across the table from you. All the while, weaving one experience into another as it builds to an overall roadmap to find your own success.
The Secret of Transitions
Transitions. We've all experienced them. It seems that just when everything is going well and life is good that chaos breaks loose. The company you've diligently worked for downsizes and you are out of a job. Your spouse tells you that your marriage is done. Health issues remind you of your mortality.
The Secret of Transitions is part memoir and part self help book. The author shares his own transition experiences as he left a job because he felt bored and then realized that this was merely an excuse. It was at this point that he had to become very honest with himself and figure out what he really wanted to do with his life.
The author's story is subdivided into a number of chapters. Each chapter looks at one particular step within the transition process. The author's experiences serve as both an example and inspiration for the reader. I like this format because the author's words seem more like mentoring than traditional self-help.
I have written a chapter called I Am That, I Am in this inspirational compilation book by best-selling authors and wonderful people from all walks of life xox :-D (Its sister book is called Adventures In Manifesting - Success and Spirituality)
