Stone Fallen is not your average 15-year-old boy. Then again, neither is his friend Ella Costello. For years Stone and Ella have spent their summer vacations snooping around town and uncovering secrets, even if the secret is as simple as a bunch of old gardening magazines from the 1940’s. This year Stone and Ella go walking in Newman Park which is just up the street from where they live. Together they discover an old box car with the words "The Time Train, 1882" painted on its side. Join Stone and Ella as they board the Time Train, learn its secrets, meet Jesse James, and become part of a secret association.

“Where are we?” he hissed to Ella. “Is this real or were we driven straight into the back lots of Disney World?”
“I don’t know,” Ella whispered. “Something tells me it’s real.”
Stone’s brow furrowed in concentration. “You mean there are actually people who still live like this?”
“No,” Ella said simply.
“What then?” Stone asked.
“I think we traveled back in time.”
Stone’s stomach lurched. They had traveled through time? How? Where had they traveled to? Better yet, what year had they traveled to? How were they going to get home? And how did Ella know? Stone gritted his teeth. This was not his idea of a fun summer vacation. Not only that, but he was having a hard time believing her theory. People couldn’t travel time. Ella, however, seemed to be enjoying herself.
“Do you think it’s safe to look again?” she whispered.
Stone shrugged. Carefully, they began to stand up enough so they could see out the window. As far as they could tell, no one was watching them, but the crowd outside was becoming intensely thick and people were starting to look moody.
“There you are!” a voice directly behind them cried in glee.
Stone jumped, clutching tightly to Ella. The two of them turned. The voice had come from a woman in a long, straight black dress with black laced up boots. She wore her mousy brown hair in a puffy, intricate knot on the top of her head. Though the woman was standing straight as a board, a calm, serene peacefulness emanated from her.
