The book tells of how a young man progresses from a life of crime and violence to that of spirituality.
Although set in India and Bhutan, the book is more universal in nature as it deals with the individual's struggle to reach perfection and The Invisible Path that takes her/him to the Destination. A well-known publisher wanted me to change its end which I refused - I'll let you, the reader, decide if I was correct in my decision...

“The work…illustrates vividly the good and bad aspects of social conditions in contemporary India. It is full of human interest and incident, both dark and joyful which led me to turn the pages avidly, to discover the next twist in the plot.”

The Late Peter Whitbread, British Actor, Writer  (Emmy Award – Writing)

“A strong story that both shocks and heals as it explores the many aspects of the life of a young man in India named Dante and his friends and lovers, through his troubled youth as a criminal and then his succesful life as a teacher, writer, father and a yogi.

"The Invisible Path" seems to go on forever, as Deep Inder helps us look at

ourselves and others in our sometimes cruel and corrupt societies, to find the truth of our experiences both in our lives and afterwards…”

I think it was Aldous Huxley who said that the charm of pornography lies in the fact that it is a sort of ‘purer’ reality in the sense that it leaves out the pimples and the bad breath and highlights the enjoyment. Similarly, I believe, fiction, though based on reality, removes the uninteresting parts and concentrates on the essentially interesting ones. Besides, it also adds what could or should have been reality, according to me, but remains a dream.

My novel is partly based on truth but there is also a dream involved. It is not just an India with all its caste prejudices, crime, corruption, politics, love and beauty but also portrays, through Dante, a person who recognizes the darkness within and moves from revenge, violence and sex towards ‘superconsciousness’. It is the story of every sensitive person who is dissatisfied with the present and seeks a higher reality.

Excerpts(Chapter:I)
“Co-Come back, Dante, p-please, please come back for God;s sake…”
But, I had had enough. They thought they were always right. They did not realize that I was no kid. I was a full sixteen years old and knew, as every teenager does, what I was doing. After all, what had I asked for? …….
The caste system was not clear to any one of us. Our history books classified both businessmen and farmers as vaisyas but, at least in the Punjab where we lived, the sons of farmers and businessmen were those who hated each other the most……..
I did not answer. The inspector gave me a tight slap and the others, there must have been about ten of them (all fat as a pig’s behind), guffawed belligerently.
I just looked at them, my eyes dull with boredom. I was a sportsman. I was a Karate expert. I knew I wasn’t that easy to break.
(Chapter II): “Look at the sister-fucker’s hair. And the girlish panties.”
Her legs were hairless, so smooth. I was so hairy but her panties were so like my underpants.
“He’s full of hair all over. Ha! HA! HA!”
“Yes, Ha! Ha! Like a bear, Ha! Ha! Ha!”
The faces of Inspector Joginder, S.H.O. and his cronies in uniform flashed before my eyes and reminded me of my mission to kill. I had to leave that very moment. It was no time for lovemaking.
(Chapter VII) Continuing with the French kiss, I guided her towards the bed like the hero of a Hollywood movie I’d seen recently. Just like the actress, her knees bent and she lay flat on the bed. I fell clumsily on her, taking the breath out of her. I was quite unlike the hero in the movie but she did not seem to mind.
I recovered fast. I felt her smooth silky legs with my hands, discovering the delicious delights of the beautiful, naturally hairless Thai skin. Her legs were powerful but had not lost their softness and, when I touched the creamy insides of her thighs, I felt an Elysian delight, the epitome of pleasure. That was before she got into the act.
(Chapter XV) ...I had to leave my family and take the path least traveled by……I put my hands to my eyes but the Light was within me. I could not escape it…...Where is there to go? I am in sanyas. I am Sanyas…… I am a man, a eunuch, a woman. I am a mosquito. I am the moon. I am the sun. I am the Eunuch of Light. I am Golden Light, a million suns. I am the universe. I AM. ‘i’ am I.
What should I speak? Nothing. I am a dumb Demosthenes…
What should I write? Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Just that I AM…
Do I repeat myself? No, not at all! Do I imitate? No, not at all! Am I myself? No, not at all! I am Shoonyata. I am Nothing. I am the Black Hole. I AM THE VOID!
I AM THE END...
THE OMEGA
AND…
THE ALPHA …
