I’m old enough that I have a wife not a partner
In my young days only TV cowboy heroes had partners
The Lone Ranger and Tonto
Hopalong Cassidy and California Carlson
The Cisco Kid and Pancho
And I can assure you that my wife is
Nothing like any of these pardners
Well …… except, except for perhaps Pancho
And then…it’s only her bow legs
Yes, she’s categorically nothing like the others
Well……except perhaps for the tobacco she chews
And the way she spits into the spittoon
But just because I’m old enough to have a wife and not a partner
Doesn’t mean that I’m one of those
Unregenerated men from Mars
No way. I’m the one that empties the spittoon
