I have taken pride in writing this novel as so many people have the wrong impression on bikers because they dress in leather clothing which is to protect themselves in case of an accident. The majority of bikers are known Policemen, Firemen, Doctors, Teachers, Paramedics, Military, construction workers, everyday hard workers who give of their time to help so many. They don't ask for anything in return but respect, and the right to ride their motorcycles without being critized. You never know, maybe one of them are the reason your loved one is living today.
This book is about a group of wonderful people who love to ride their mortorcycles as they willingly give their time for the many fundraisers and the hours they volunteer at hospitals, clinics, Seniors home and the Veteran's wing. They make a different in your life, my life and in their heart as they continually give a piece of it to so many.
This book was written with much love and appreciation to so many.

Such a beautiful day to start of the summer as Fred took the Harley from the garage to see what she was capable of doing. It has been a long cold miserable winter and the itch to ride was in the air. Fred had kept in touch with all his riding buddies and it looked like it would be another fulfilled year as they planned for so many of their familiar rides. This year would be different as Fred had many plans to help make the rides more enjoyable and meaningful.
Although there was always a lot of publicity for each fundraiser, people weren’t really aware of how involved the bikers became each year.
It bothered them a lot that so many looked at them as “one of those people” as to degrade them because they dressed in their leathers and helmets as they thoroughly enjoyed riding but their biggest enjoyment was helping find the funds, that would one day hopefully find a cure to so many deadly illnesses.
Fred was soon on his faithful computer, notifying his buddies. Soon plans were made to meet at their favourite coffee shop. Plans had to be made and the sooner the better. Summer was too short a season to be wasted.
One by one replies arrived to his message and it appeared that not just he was eager to do the good they have grown accustomed to. It seemed even the wives wanted to do their part. So started the new adventures of the love shared amongst the Steel Chains that kept those mighty engines roaring day after day. I like to think of them as God’s Angels travelling with a different set of wings to carry them along , helping them in the many decisions of doing good for so many in their daily runs through the summer.
All prepared for an outing, out to save the world in some small way that would one day make a huge difference. Like a dream come true. Together working as a group would make such a difference.
These folks have been everything but selfish, always giving of their time and life for others. These men and women consist of Doctors, Lawyers, Firemen, Teachers, Construction workers, Military, Police Officers and most of all husbands and wives and Mom’s and Dad’s, still willing to stretch themselves beyond to help someone else and never looking at that person as a stranger. How many tears have they shared without having a name to go with a face?
They are well respected citizens that people can’t and won’t take the time to notice because to them, they are just a bunch of bikers.

I apologize for the delay in this comment. I actually finished your book over the holidays, and have been meaning to message you for awhile now. But you know how it is ... I have a horrible tendency to put things off for no other reason than laziness.
Procrastination aside, the effort and compassion put forth by the Steel Chains is so heartwarming. It's good to know that people like you exist in a world that always seems to be governed either by fundamental fanatics or selectively blind atheists. You are an inspiration. Thank you for doing what you love, it gives me hope.
I just finished last night reading "The Steel Chains of Love" a book authored by Ms. Rose Rideout.
You don't need to be or have been a biker to enjoy all the 307 illustrated pages, but it will help a lot if you were once straddle on a Harley Davidson mean mother of a machine.
From the pages you will hear that identifiable deep growling from under your seat that crawls up your spine and shake your neck with a reminiscence of potholes on the old Route 66 or just for the heck of it down to Baja with a hot mamma tethered around your waist.
The book takes you in a journey that many dream of but that are too chicken to embark, to open their hearts.
Not only we are to travel on those roads made of dirt, but also on the roads of charity that most of the world bikers travel trying to help other less fortunate.
The book have it all, informative bends and damn the torpedoes humor, mother's BBQ and many real photos to put you there.
It is once in a lifetime, so, if you don't own a bike, read the book and you will love Rose as Fred does.
An absolutely great book sis, I just started reading it and can't seem to put it down. It certainly enlightens us the reader, not to judge a book by its cover. So many wonderful giving souls riding their motorcycles to where ever it may take them, so they can give to others, the sick, the poor, and the many less fortunate in this world. I commend them for the work they have already done and the work they will do in the future to provide a means and a cure for so many. They certainly are Angels in Leather.
