The king looked stern as he spoke. “Lord Khafra, you stand accused of treason and you are found guilty. You are stripped of all rank. No house of eternity shall bear thy body; thy ka shall find no peace. Thy name shall be stricken from all records. You will die this day and be forgotten. You no longer exist.” The king turned and left the audience chamber without a backward glance.
Treason! Khafra swallowed—hard.
