One of the most important phases of any investigation is the information/fact finding phase. At this phase in the investigation, criminal Investigators are interviewing anyone who may have been a witness to a criminal act, and documentation in the form of voluntary statements are gathered.

  This is where the witness' story, and the evidence collected by the crime scene investigator is collaborated, and a case is built against the suspect.

Ultimately, the culprit is incarcerated and a guilty verdict is rendered by a judge or jury.
