The information that children can gather about the life and ways of these javelinas, both as adults and young piglings, is interesting and factual…and, the pen and ink illustrations by Marian Weaver are delightful. Young readers will enjoy searching the pages for other desert critters and delight in the night scenes where javelinas scare domestic animals.
