I hope you will find this book and the rest of our book series to be hugely beneficial in numerous ways. Two goals are clearly intended: 1) that it be applicable to your world and 2) that it will be an individual and organizational resource for growing leaders, individuals, teams and organizations. My work within this book series is about the learning process. First creating an awareness of need (motivation), telling a story, and then plenty of practical application. Because of the importance of ‘repetition’ in changing habits/behaviors, there is a certain amount (of repetition of ideas & concepts) worked in here for sure. Lastly to help you digest and internalize your thinking as you read, I have provided lots of space for you to take notes. This book series will hopefully be forever, a valuable resource for you the reader. If I am successful, you will practice the concepts and change behaviors (yours and those of others). The book series is applicable to leadership teaching in the workplace, within communities, business settings, church, school, supervision, teaching, coaching and even parenting - virtually anywhere that requires LEADERSHIP.
There are biblical and spiritual connections and ideas throughout that will be bonus stuff for the Christian and Believer. However, for any open-minded thinker, leader and learner - there is plenty of substance that will help anyone (regardless of religious affiliation or beliefs).

A ‘small’ percentage of corporations, companies and organizations of all types are facing the reality that talk must become action regarding our most valuable resource – people. Real behavioral leadership-change had better happen sooner rather than later, in order to survive in our ever-increasing competitive global environment. The workforce, facilitated by effective leadership, must become perceptive, flexible, collaborative-thinking and 'ahead of the game' regarding change (for all industries). More and more, organizational leadership teams (and not just some short-lived consulting effort) need to understand concepts such as Org. Development, Change Facilitation, Culture-improving, Individual & Org. Behavior; and for sure to begin practicing REAL LEADERSHIP!
Only through a commitment by leadership from the top, carrying down through subordinate leaders and leadership, can real change sustain itself. This is especially true when speaking of changing people and behavior! Organizations will have to commit resources to develop a different definition of 'what leadership means' and to see it become the new reality. Consider the challenges we already have when we are all working together locally, and then picture the leadership, teamwork, relationships & communicating challenges as we attempt them VIRTUALLY and GLOBALLY...yikes! We must identify the kind of culture that is desired…and then lay out plans to get there. Finally we must understand and become true critical-thinkers regarding how to make people our most valuable resource. Posters on the walls of HR or PR briefings (about this slogan) don’t make it real and just don’t cut it any longer!
It takes a big-picture, long-term approach to address these factors, and a discontinuation of 'programs-of-the-month, fads or jumping on the bandwagon of the latest Quality or Business initiative. LEADERSHIP is stuff that has been talked (seminars/retreats held and books written) about for many years, and then forgotten or disbanded when it comes to making it happen. More often than not, the talk fails to become reality when leaders realize that this is about their own personal leadership behaviors. This hits too close to home for some, there are ego issues and/or there is just no time for this leadership stuff. Schedules are too full already - doing management stuff!?! There is no mistake about it, the winners of tomorrow are those organizations that see this, understand it, and facilitate making it their new reality! ‘This & it’ = LEADERSHIP. Individual leaders and organizational leadership must be willing to personally change and commit to implementing a sustainable leadership & people-development process.
