“Does your rifle shoot strait? You only get one shot before I drive away,” Samuel says.
“Of course it shoots straight, I zeroed it this morning, and I did a three round zero. Shot a cluster the size of a dime,” Eric says proud of himself.
“You said that rifle was used by the USMC?” Samuel asks.
“Yes it is it is the pride and joy of the USMC scout sniper. It is custom made with a fiberglass body especially for them. The only thing that I have different on it is the scope, the Marine Corps uses an Urntle Scope, where as I am using an old fashioned German post scope reticule with a range finder. For me the German post is a more efficient reticule, it is easier to use, and with the built-in side range finding reticule I can get distances and range estimates on the fly,” Eric says.
Samuel looks at his watch and says, “It’s almost time for action.”
Eric climbs into the back of his truck and pulls the tailgate up temporarily. He has to stoop over while he pulls his rifle out of its bag. It is an elegant rifle, fiberglass body, smoothly blued barrel connecting into a well-polished receiver. He takes a blanket and puts it over himself as he lies down in the back of the truck. He assumes the prone position and rests the rifle in his arms in front of him until the truck pulls up to the stop.
Samuel gets into the driver seat of the truck, and starts it. He pulls out of the parking spot and proceeds down the ramp to the lower levels of the parking garage. He exits the parking structure and sees the crowd formed outside of the Terminal Tower. There are Communists, Anarchists, and there are regular people mixed in with the anti demonstration. Most of the anti-racist protesters are wearing bandannas over their faces concealing their identities.
They are waving signs and banners that say, “Nazis out” and, “ARA fight the racists.”
Samuel counts about a hundred counter-protesters. Finally Samuel finds a good spot to park, right next to a city utility truck about three hundred meters away from the scene. That is ideal battle sight zero; most enemies that you engage in combat are only zero to three hundred meters away from you. Any way there were many cops at the scene, but most of them were located at the epicenter of the rally. Most of the police officers had formed a line around Bill Weiss and his cronies. Eric lowered the gate to the truck and sighted in on Weiss. Bill Weiss was a standing in the square in front of the terminal tower adulating his own ego while Eric was busy staring at him though the sight of his M40. Eric was in the back of the truck adjusting the knobs for wind age estimates and range estimates. He stared through the scope at Bill Weiss, and felt the energy flow through him like a live wire. He felt alive, a feeling he could get could only be achieved through the spirit of the hunt. Eric did not want this feeling to go away, and knew that it would reach its climax by pulling the trigger.
Eric carefully looked through the scope and started to control his breathing for shot placement. One breath in, exhale slowly, two breath in, exhale slowly, Eric started regulating his breathing and centered the reticule on Weiss' head. He counted between breaths and when he found his moment he slowly and steadily pulled the trigger to the rear and crack..., the rifle barked and Weiss' head snapped back and blood and brain matter sprayed from out of the open wound onto the people next to him.
