Sheena walked through the place greeting guests and making sure everyone was having a good time when she stopped at Jin and Jackie’s table. “Yiqie hao zheli? (Everything good here?)” She smiled warmly.
Jin’s eyes immediately locked onto hers and Sheena lowered her eyes. She feared he, like some others, was going to stare because of her racial blending. Sometimes she was blatantly asked what she was, black or Chinese. It upset her at times, but she’d grown used to it. But most men found her to be exotic looking, which made her popular and a favorite when she was a prostitute.
Jin gave her a genuine smile, he was instantly attracted and he hadn’t seen anyone like her before. There was something special about her and he wanted to speak to her, get to know her. Where was she from? Was she born here? Is her mother Chinese? So many questions filled his mind. She spoke perfect Mandarin, which pleased and intrigued him. Sheena couldn’t help but hear his thoughts, he wasn’t staring at her to be rude or mean, he actually wanted to know her, in a good way and he wasn’t wondering what she was like in bed. She wasn’t used to that.
