Create a Family Dinner Menu
Let your child create and write the menu for a family dinner while you do the cooking. Help your child spell out the difficult words or get your child to use a dictionary. You can have your child write a menu for one meal or for an entire week of meals. Your child can even help you with the grocery shopping! Make sure you show your child the format of a menu in advance (e.g. a delivery menu that you have in a drawer).
What to Look For
For younger kids, look for proper spelling and capital letters. Older students should add in adjectives (descriptive words) to make the food ‘sound’ more appetizing (e.g. succulent). Make sure your child organizes the food into sections (e.g. appetizer, entrée, dessert).
