'Smugglers at the Lighthouse' is  juvenile-level adventure fiction set in the rugged and wild west coast of British Columbia, Canada.  A confirmed 'city-boy', originally from Toronto and now residing in Vancouver, 13 year old Ben agrees to visit his 16 year old cousins in the small village of Bamfield and then hike the West Coast Trail.  As a favour to an old friend, Ben takes a supposedly magical silver band and is pestered along the route by a bizarre eagle.

     After several encouters with the 'crazy' bird, Ben narrowly escapes disaster while crossing a swing rope bridge, high over a steep canyon.  He is separated from his cousins who are captured by an evil drug smuggler using an abandoned lighthouse as a base.

     Ben befriends a strange old man who is 'connected' with the eagle, and together, the two attempt to rescue Ben's cousins, battling inept and comical criminal underlings before a final showdown with the malevolent 'Boss' of the smuggling operation.

     The plot twists and turns to a surprise ending as Ben will need all his courage, determination, intelligence, and stamina, not to mention a bit of magic, to defeat the drug warlord.
